This might be the most asked question in software right now and while it is a very good question for us to all be asking – the answer isn’t as simple as we might hope. There’s a lot of bold promises about what AI can do but when we go deeper, we find that the term AI encompasses many different technologies and strategies. Plus software is never deployed in a vacuum! Software that is beneficial (or just benign) in one place can be extremely harmful in another.
In this talk, the speaker will discuss the different kinds of AI that are in use, some of the common ways that each type is applied and their advantages and disadvantages from both a technical perspective and an ethical one. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of the AI landscape and a list of better questions to ask about AI usage.
