Learn how to use the man command on Linux to read documentation!
Man pages have a reputation for being cryptic, intimidating, and written for people who already know the answer. However, they're available offline, pre-installed in most places, and consistently structured. Once you can "RTFM" (read the friendly manual), you'll never go back!
This talk is for people who have never heard of man pages, and those who've never opened one without fear and trepidation. I will:
- Use Ubuntu and basic command line tools
- Explain how to navigate the document structure of
manpages - Solve some simple problems using
manpages - Install some tools to make your
manprettier and friendlier
